THE PARIS NEWS, Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001: "Arthur Hollis Thompson, 84, Rt. 6, Paris, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001, in Parkview Care Center. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, in Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J. T. McNabb officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery with Tony Elmi, Jim King, Lynn Patterson, Matt Patterson, Shad Wilson, Bob Newberry, Howard Sulsur, and Patrick Newberry serving as pallbearers. Mr. Thompson was born Sept. 6, 1917, in Delta County to Milton and Hattie Whitaker Thompson. He was a farmer, a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army, and was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, the former Frances Jones, whom he married on July 30, 1947, in Amarillo; a sister, Montie Patrick of Lubbock and a number of nieces and nephews."
