| Notes LAMAR COUNTY INQUESTS, May 2, 1916 to December 1938, Transcribed by Betsy Mills: Lamar County Texas, Precinct One, Justice of the Peace, Inquest Record Book Number 1, Record 64; Name unknown, about 5 ft 9 in tall, brown hair. Date of death: Feb 4, 1936. Where died: 2 1/2 miles W of Pinhook. Date of inquest: Feb 5, 1936, 2 P.M. Where held: Pinhook 2 1/2 miles N. Nature of information and by whom given: Quite a number gathered around body. Gussie McCarty heard a car seemingly going South stopped, a gun fired, didn't investigate, body was found Feb 5 about 8:30 AM by Ryan Kelley aside the road. Finding by the Justice: Wednesday morning, Feb 5, 1936, about 10 AM I was called to Pinhook N 2 1/2 miles about 20 miles NE of Paris, Tex. to hold inquest over the body unidentified of a man about 35 years of old, dark brown hair, blue eyes, about 5 feet and 9 inches tall. This party was shot on left side below heart. The indications were he was shot with pistol by a party or parties unknown. There was nothing in his pockets or clothing that would identify him. Therefore from statements made and physical conditions, it is my verdict he came to his death from gunshot wound in the hands of a party or parties unknown. A. W.
