THE PARIS NEWS, Wednesday, February 21, 2001: 'Simon Holland Bell, 90, Rt. 1, Deport, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001 at McCuistion Regional Medical Center. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home Chapel with C.G. Renfro officiating. The body will lie at the funeral home until service time. Burial will be in Milton Cemetery. Mr. Bell was born March 18, 1910, in the Independence community of Lamar County to L. Walter and Beulah Hart Bell. He married Elizabeth Harvey June 23, 1940. He was a farmer-rancher in Lamar County all his working years. Surviving are his wife; two nephews, Harvey Bell of Winnsboro and Harold Bell of White Plains, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Lelia Bedford Gailbreath; a brother, Walter Hoyle Bell, and his first wife, Robbie Mae Norwood. Pallbearers will be Sam Pearson, Jim Pearson, Johnny Whitney, J.P. Harvey, Charles Davidson, and Elvin Bell. Honorary bearers will be Harvey and Harold Bell.'
