THE PARIS NEWS, Monday, January 15, 2001: "Longtime Farmers Branch/ Carrollton resident, Donald R. Bell, 72 died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2001, after a brief battle with illness. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, at Webb Chapel United Methodist Church in Farmers Branch. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery in Roxton at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. Family visitation will be at Rhoton Funeral Home in Carrollton from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. He was born Feb. 21, 1929, in Atlas to Horace and Melva A. Bell. He attended schools in Paris and moved to Dallas in 1952 with his loving wife, Patsy Jane Whitlow Bell. They would have been married 53 years Jan. 21, 2001. Mr. Bell was a sales representative in the sporting goods business for many years, first working at Harry W. Thener Co., then starting his own business, Alto Sales and eventually selling to Steward Stevenson Sales Inc. and working there until retirement. Upon retirement, he was a bus driver for special education students with the Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD. He was one of the founders of Little League Baseball in 1957 in Farmers Branch and coached many of those teams. He is remembered as a kind, loving and wonderfully generous man to his family and friends. He was a faithful member of Webb Chapel United Methodist Church in Farmers Branch. He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald L. Bell, and a sister, Dossie King. Surviving are his wife; daughter, Jackie Spragins of Wichita Falls; daughter-in-law, Susan McDaniel of Dallas; grandsons Jeffrey Bell and wife Teresa of Lewisville, John Spragins of Wichita Falls, and Charles Spragins and wife Beth of Houston; great-grandson Jacob Bell of Lewisville; sisters, Patsy Rosson of Paris and Gwen Smith and husband Melvin of Paris; and many loving nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Webb Chapel United Methodist Church, 2536 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch Texas 75234."
