THE PARIS NEWS, Monday, December 25, 2000: 'Howard P. Baxter, 68, of Paris, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, in Christus St. Joseph's Hospital. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, in the chapel of Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home. Burial will be in McDonald Cemetery near Howland. The family will be at their residence. Mr. Baxter was born Oct. 1, 1932, in Hill County Texas to Lewis 'Dub' and Ethel Cacy Baxter. He married Darlene Brown June 16, 1954, in New Mexico. He was a retired paint contractor and a Baptist. Survivors include his wife, Darlene, of the home; five children, Paula Moore of Taylors, S.C., Howard Baxter Jr. of Greenville, S.C., Glenda Wood of Paris, Sandy Dawson of Granbury and Trisha Baxter of Blossom; 12 grandchildren, Chris Baster, Chip Thomas, Christy Long, Carolyn Rigby, Cory Moore, Brian Rigby, Tabitha Baxter, Jason Wood, Justin Wood, Amanda Dawson, Jordan Dawson and Derek Atnip; four great-grandchildren, Caton Thomas, Chelsea Baxter, Caley Baxter and Summer Thomas; two brothers, Harold Baxter of Caddo Mills and James Baxter of Shirley, and two sisters, Dorothy Deweese of Lake Whitney and Betty Cotten of Mount Vernon. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Brenda Wiggins, and a sister, Ann Holt. Serving as pallbearers will be Chip Thomas, Brian Rigby, Justin Wood, Jordan Dawson, Chris Brown and James Baxter Jr.'
