THE PARIS NEWS, Sunday, March 21, 1948, p. 9:  "Funeral Is Held at Post Oak - By Paris News Correspondent - CLARKSVILLE. -Funeral servlce for Elder Joseph Lee Turner, 83, was held Thursday noon at Post Oak Church, northwest of Avery, by the Rev. J. D. McClung, Baptist minister, assisted by the Rev. D. D. Miller. Burial in Post Oak Cemetery was made by Jolley-Weaver Funeral Home, and pallbearers were Wilburn Lee, Wallace Lee, J. D. Lee, J. N. Lee, Basil McNabb and Leon Turner.  Survivors are these children: Mrs. Rhoda Lee, Post Oak; Mrs. Ruthie McNabb, Clavksville; Mrs. Cleo Lee, Rugby, and Berry Turner, Fort Worth; a brother, H. C. Turner, Dallas, Ga., and a sister, Mrs. Jim Moore, Cullman. Ala.; 21 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Elder Turner was born Nov. 5, 1864 in Georgia, and came to Texas in 1902.  He married Miss Mandy Cleveland in 1887, and she died some time ago. He had been a minister of the Missionary Baptist Church about 50 years.  In ill health some time, he died at home in Post Oak community, Wednesday about 6 p.m."

THE DETROIT NEWS-HERALD, 18 Mar 1948 from microfilm in Clarksville Library: "Rev. J. L. Turner, 86, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Bill Lee, in the Post Oak Community yesterday afternoon following a long illness. Services were being held this morning at Post Oak. Surviving are 3 daughters and a son: Mrs. Bill Lee, Post Oak; Mrs. McNabb of near Clarksville; Mrs. Jim Lee, Rugby; Berry Turner, Fort Worth; 16 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren."
