THE DETROIT NEWS-HERALD, 19 Dec 1946 from microfilm in Clarksville Library: “Mrs. J. F. Bell, mother of Russie Bell of Detroit, died at the family home in Deport Sunday night. Funeral services were conducted at the Deport Methodist Church Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock with commitment services at Highland Cemetery. Before her marriage to Mr. Bell on 12 Jan 1888 she was Miss Minnie Grant, a daughter of the late Nathan and Mary Grant. She was born and reared in that section. Surviving are her husband and 8 children: Corrie, Roger, Stanley, Jack and Miss Norma Bell of Deport, Mrs. T. U. Anderson and Ranson Bell of Dallas, and Russie Bell of Detroit; a brother, Dumas Grant of Deport, 1 son, John D. Bell, died in 1918 while in service.”
