THE PARIS NEWS, Sunday, September 22, 1935, p. 12: "DEATH CALLS MRS. BARNETT. To Hold Funeral Service At Residence Sunday Afternoon Here. The death of Mrs. J. R. Barnett of 43T Lamar avenue occurred at 6:30 o'clock Saturday evening at her residence where she had been in failing health the past year, though critically ill only since Thursday. Funeral services will be held at the residence Sunday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock, conducted by Dr. W. M. Wright of First Baptist church, assisted by Dr. F. L. Wear of Central Presbyterian church and the Rev. Homer T. Fort of First Methodist church. Mrs. Barnett, who was formerly Lucy Belle DeLozier, daughter of Elizabeth and Fountain D. DeLozier, was born March 26, 1865, in Monmouth, Ill., the family later moving to Kansas. She was married in Altamont, Kans., November 3, 1886, to J. R. Barnett of Lowry City, Mo. They moved to Paris from Missouri in 1895. She is survived by her husband, one son, C. F. Barnett, two daughters, Miss Martha Barnett and Mrs. J. C. Joiner, and a grandson Charles Joiner, all of Paris, besides two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Cattie Sloan of Arkansas City, Kans., Mrs. M. H. Mayfield of Keller, and George and Joe DeLozier of Lowry City, Mo."

THE DETROIT NEWS-HERALD, 26 Sep 1935 from microfilm in Clarksville Library: "Mrs. J. R. Barnett, 70, died at 8:30 p.m. at her home in Paris. She is survived by her husband, a son and 2 daughters."
