THE PARIS NEWS, Friday, April 10, 1936, p. 1: “SMALL CHILD IS DROWNED. Taylortown Child Falls In Gin Pool Thursday Afternoon. Two year old Roy Earle Baker unnoticed by his playmates near his home at Taylortown, fell into the gin pool and was drowned about 3 o’clock Thursday afternoon. When the body was found in the pool, two physicians were summoned but resuscitation efforts failed. The funeral was held Friday morning at 11 o’clock at Rockford cemetery where internment was made. Emberson-Brown-Roden funeral home had charge of the arrangements. The child’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Baker, a brother Jerry and two grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. T. Baker of Rockford survive.”
