THE PARIS NEWS, Tuesday, August 22, 2000, page 10: 'Harold L. Tomblin, 69, Rt. 1, Pattonville, died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2000, at his home. Wood Funeral Home conducted services at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, at Immanuel Baptist Church in Paris with the Rev. Randall Scott and the Rev. C.G. Renfro officiating. Burial, with Masonic graveside services conducted by Paris Lodge No. 27 AF&AM, was in Evergreen Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were men of Immanuel Baptist Church. Mr. Tomblin was born Jan. 9, 1931, in Lampassas to Henry Lee and Flossie Lee Beene Tomblin. He married Virginia Janice Merritt Sept. 2, 1950. He served in the U.S. National Guard earning the rank of staff sergeant. He was a long time member of Immanuel Baptist Church and was formerly a trustee of the Pattonville and Lamar Point Baptist Churches. He was an active electrician for over 20 years, retiring in 1974 and was a member and former vice president of I.B.E.W. Local Union No. 116 of Fort Worth. He was also a former member of Paris Lodge No. 27 AF&AM and a member of the Moslah Shrine Temple of Fort Worth. A son, Gary Lavon Tomblin, preceded him in death May 8, 1968. Surviving are his wife, Jan Merritt Tomblin; his daughter and son-in-law, Vicky Lynn and Don Nielson of Dallas; four granddaughters, Heather Rhodes, Jessica, Kathryn, and Lindsey Neilson, all of Dallas, and one great-grandson, Devin Rhodes, also of Dallas.'
