THE PARIS NEWS, Sunday, November 26, 1944, p. 9: “G. H. Thompson. G. H. Thompson, 74, died at 2:20 o’clock Friday afternoon at the Sanitarium of Paris, where he had been brought from Watson Convalescent Home, March 6, for surgical treatment. Born Sept. 22, 1870, in South Carrolina, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Thompson, he lived here many years before going to Harlingen, returning here after his health failed. He had been employed as a railroad mechanic. The Rev. John V. Berglund of First Methodist Church will conduct the funeral, Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Manton-Fry Funeral Home, and interment will be made in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The pallbearers will be E. H. Maddox, Bud Morgan, Sam Fuqua, Lt. Crayton Thompson, Harvey Boyd and O. B. White. Survivors are these children: Mrs. Thomas Seay, Miss Dorothy Thompson and George H. Thompson, Paris; Lt. Betty Hogan, Army Nurse Corps; Collis Thompson and Frank H. Thompson, Harlingen, and 2nd Lt. Wayne Thompson in France, and these brothers and sisters: George B. Thompson and Mrs. Lillie Boyd, Paris, the Rev. Harry Thompson, Sulphur Springs, and Mrs. Jim Walsh, Megargel.”

He was born 22 Sep 1870 in Pickens, SC, and was the son of George McDuffie Thompson (b. 15 Aug 1840 Pickens, SC died Paris, Lamar Co. 22 Dec 1907) and Sarah A. ‘Sallie’ (Holder) Dillard (born out of wedlock, daughter of Rev. Benjamin Holder, b. September 25, 1844, died Abt. 1864 in SC.) Ghould was married on 4 Apr 1900 to Dora (Isadora) Hogue in Brookston, Lamar Co., TX.

1. Thomas Wayne Thompson (my father), b. 25 Aug 1901, Paris, d. 13 Aug 1966, Houston.
2. Frank Hughes Thompson.
