THE PARIS NEWS, Monday, May 22, 2000, page 8: 'LINDEN - James Evans Beckerley, 82, of Hide-a-Way Lake died Friday, May 19, 2000 in a Tyler hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 23, at Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Home Chapel in Lindale with Bill Powell officating. Graveside services and burial will be at 2 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, Paris. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. He was born Sept. 10, 1917, in Paris and lived in Tyler before moving to Hide-a-Way Lake in 1982. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, was a Mason, member of the Sharon Shrine Temple, and was a retired accountant for the U.S. Treasury Department. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur C. and Nora Ophelia Evans Beckerley; his stepmother, Mable Beckerley; and his wife, Susan Beckerley, on July 10, 1992. Surviving are a son, Robert Beckerley of Lubbock, a step-brother, Bill Powell of Paris; a step-sister, Betty Bullen of Corpus Christi; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.'
