THE PARIS NEWS, Thursday, February 17, 2000, page 8A: 'COOPER - Homer Leo Thomas, 72, of Cooper died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, at Christus St. Joseph's Hospital in Paris. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, at Delta Funeral Home Chapel with Wayne Darty officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. He was born Dec. 28, 1927, in Cooper to James Daniel and Clara Tatum Thomas. He was a retired truck driver and a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army as a corporal. He married Bonnie Cates, April 30, 1954. Surviving are his wife; sons and daughters-in-law, Jon and Kathy Thomas of Cooper and Joe and Sharon Thomas of Sulphur Springs; daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Mark Garrett of Miller Grove; grandchildren, Jamie Soto, Jacob Posey, Amber Nelson, Joshua Thomas, Andi Thomas, Randi Quimby, and Maggie Quimby; one great-grandson, Jon Soto; and several nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Johnny Phillips. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and four brothers.'
