THE PARIS NEWS, Sunday, January 1, 2000, page 4B: "Vivian Christine Urban, 87, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999 at Christus St. Joseph’s Hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000 at Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with her grandson, the Rev. Tim Buchanan of Elbert, Colo. officiating. He will be assisted by seniors minister of First Baptist Church Paul Appleby and Mike Fortenberry of East Paris Baptist Church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Urban was born Jan. 4, 1912 in High to Xerxes Harris Miller and Reverdy Waldon Stakley Miller. On Sept. 7, 1961, she married William Joseph Urban in Paris. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church and active in the Sunday school and missions program. She was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. for 35 years. When she retired on Oct. 4, 1968, she was group chief operator. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from East Texas State University in May 1969. She became a real estate agent for Nathan Bell Agency and enjoyed that vocation for several years. Mrs. Urban was a lifetime member of Christus St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary, accumulating many volunteer hours in the gift shop. She also was active in the Texas Pharmaceutical Association Auxiliary along with her husband, Bill. In June of 1993, they were awarded Life Membership in this association. She was a telephone pioneer. Mrs. Urban loved people and enjoyed baking and entertaining. She was particularly known for her homemade rolls, chocolate cakes and divinity. Teaching her children Christian principles was her highest calling and her church family was an integral part of her life. She is survived by her husband, Bill; two daughters, Sonya Buchanan and husband George, and Hope Waller and her husband A.W. of Sherman; stepdaughter, Theresa Fay of Colleyville; three grandsons; two stepgrandsons; three great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; one step, great-grandson; and one step, great-granddaughter; and one great, great-grandson; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Courtney Caldwell on April 1, 1999. Pallbearers will be Ivan Buchanan, Jonathan Buchanan, Justin Buchanan, Christopher Caldwell, Mike Fay and Ted Satcher."
Tombstone is inscribed, "Vivian Caldwell Urban - Mother of Sonya Caldwell Buchanan, Courtney Ian Caldwell, Hope caldwell Waller."
