THE PARIS NEWS, Tuesday, April 27, 1999, page 4B: 'FLORENCE - Dean Biffle, 80, died Saturday, April 17, 1999, at his home in Chattanooga, Tenn. Graveside services and burial were held April 20 at Pisgah Cemetery near Florence, Ala. Mr. Biffle, a former Paris resident, was born Dec. 14, 1918, in Pontotoc County, Miss., where he lived most of his childhood years. He completed business college in Tupelo and married Modell Hogue. He began his business career in retail management with S. H. Kress and served in the Army during World War II. Business transfers moved the family to Memphis, Little Rock, Paris, Texarkana, Provo, Utah, Temple, Texas, Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi. The family lived in Paris from 1952 to 1960. During his business career, he worked for Kress, Gipson Discount Center, TG&Y and owned Ron & Dean Menswear Store in Gautier, Miss. His wife, Modell, died in 1984. He then married Marie Adams Biffle (sic) from Florence in 1985. Survivors include his wife, Marie; three daughters, Sharon Freeman, Sandra Horton and Suzette Connell; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all residing in Texas; four stepchildren and eight step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild. Spry Funeral Home in Florence was in charge of arrangements.'
