THE PARIS NEWS, Monday, December 19, 1977, p. 3: ‘Donald (Bo) Barnes of Rt. 1, Blossom, died Saturday at McCurtain County Hospital in Idabel, Okla., of injuries received in a truck accident south of Valliant, Okla., Saturday afternoon. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Leverett and Steele Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Highland Cemetery at Deport. Mr. Barnes was born Feb. 27, 1932, in Milton, son of James Nathan Barnes and the former Emma Mae Rwok (sic). He married Martha Sue Whitley on Jan. 25, 1972, in Hugo, Okla. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Jimmy Hodges of Key West, Florida, and Jeff Barnes and Robin Barnes, both of Blossom; one daughter, Mrs. Kim Langley of Blossom; one brother, Bobby Barnes of Roxton; two sisters, Mrs. Scott King of Rt. 5, Paris; and Miss Mary Faye Barnes of Abilene; and one grandson.’ UNNAMED NEWSPAPER- UNDATED-3 areas men die in truck crash-Valliant, Okla.-Three Texas men died in a truck accident south of here late Saturday afternoon, the Highway Patrol reported. The three Texas men were identified as Marvin Eugene Jaynes, 63, and Donald Ray Barnes, 45, both of Blossom, Texas, and Troy Louis Blanton, 56, of Detroit, Texas. The patrol said Jaynes was driving when the truck, loaded with lumber, ran off Oklahoma 98 just south of U.S, 70 in McCurtain County and overturned, pinning all three victims for over an hour and a half.
Tombstone is inscribed, ‘PFC US Army Korea.’
