THE PARIS NEWS, Thursday, June 17, 1999, p. 4B: 'Gayle J. Ball Dicken, 73, joined her Lord and Saviour Wednesday, June 16, 1999. Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home will have charge of arrangements for graveside services to be held at 4 p.m. Friday, June 18, in Evergreen Cemetery, with the Rev. Mike Fortenberry and the Rev. Frank York officiating. Mrs. Dicken was born June 30, 1925, in Lamar County to Leroy and Ola Floyd Wisely. She married Charles Ball Jan. 31, 1945, in Hugo, Okla. He preceded her in death Nov. 3, 1970. She worked as a nurse many years at St. Joseph's Hospital. Her love and compassion for people made her job a very meaningful part of her life. She had a lifetime love for gardening, cooking, being with her family and serving her Lord. She was a member of East Paris Baptist Church and of the Golden Rebecca Sunday School class. Her love for the Lord was ever present. A sincere thanks to her friends in the Golden Rebecca Class for their faithfulness in visiting, calling and many prayers. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Marcia Ball of Paris; a daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and Phil Harris of Sumner; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her many friends at Paris Oaks whom she loved and became her second family, especially Hazel Slaton, Lois Wideman and Agnes Leggett, who 'had many words,' Gayle once said; and two special friends, Glenda Coble and Monnell Sims, whom she loved and appreciated. She loved many, was loved by many and will be missed by all.'
