THE PARIS NEWS, Mon., Sep. 8, 1997, p. 4B: (Picture) Billy Roy Babb, 49, of Blossom died Saturday, Sep. 6, 1997, at St. Joseph's Hospital and Health Center. Services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sep. 9, at Fellowship Baptist Church in Blossom with the Rev. Neil Higginbotham officiating. Fry and Gibbs Funeral home will make burial in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. He was born Nov. 27, 1947, in Paris to John and Ruth Lindsey Babb. He married Gayla Helm in Paris Oct. 27, 1973. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Itazuke, Japan. He was a retired assembler from Campbell Soup Co. with 30 years of service. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Blossom, a member of the Junior Odd Fellows of Paris, and former member of the Breakfast and Evening Optimist Clubs of Paris. Because of his great love of children, he was involved as youth leader of Emberson, Lamar Point and Direct Baptist churches, former coach of youth baseball organizations of Paris, and a member of Prairiland Booster Club. Surviving are his wife; two sons, Martin Wayne Babb of San Marcos and Scotty Roy Babb of Blossom; a daughter, Amanda Gayle Babb of Sherman; his mother, Ruth Babb of Paris; four sisters, Nancy Blalock of Mount Pleasant, Kathy and Archie Sims of Powderly, Connie and Jerry Hughes of Powderly, and Becky and Carrie Babb of Paris; two brothers, Ronnie and Brenda Babb of Sulphur Springs and Jack and Cindy Babb of Powderly; father-in-law, Jerry Helm; several nieces and nephews, uncles, aunts, friends and family. He was preceded in death by his father; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Babb, Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Lindsey, and mother-in-law, Nearl Helm. Pallbearers will be Martin Babb, Scotty Babb, Jackie Babb, James Babb, Clarence Horton, Danny Babb, Ronnie Babb, Mickey Redus, Charles 'Chock' Welchel, Ken Piteock and Wendall Babb. Honorary bearers will be Brothers in Christ at Fellowship Baptist Church, fellow co-workers at Campbell Soup Distribution Dept., and precious nephews and uncles.' Tombstone is inscribed, 'SSgt., US Air Force, Vietnam.'
