THE LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, 26 May 1988. 'Bennie Bass, 82, of Powderly died Thursday, 19 May 1988, in McCuistion Medical Center. Services were held Wednesday, 25 May, in the Oak Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. H.G. Goodlow officiating. Beasley Memorial Funeral Home made burial in Reeds Chapel Cemetery. Mr. Bass was born 16 Mar 1906, in Lamar County, a son of Cora and Walter Bass. He was a member of Young's Chapel Baptist church and was chairman of the board of deacons and the Masonic lodge. He was a farmer. Surviving are a son, Robert Dangerfield of Hugo, Okla.; four brothers, Ruall Bass of Washington, D.C., Walter Bass of Stockton, Calif., Jack Bass of Wichita Falls and Buford Bass of Paris; four sisters, Channie Ellis of Fulbright, Lizzie Brown and Virginia Bass of Paris and Rosetta Ellis of Archer City, and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Lucille Littlejohn.'
