THE PARIS NEWS, Wednesday, September 10, 1919: “Mrs. Lizzie Townsend, the wife of W. L. Townsend, a well known farmer three miles west of Chicota, died suddenly at her home a few minutes before 7 o’clock yesterday morning, the immediate cause of her death being heart failure. She is survived by her husband and seven children, three of them are almost grown. the youngest is an infant a few hours old. She was the daughter of the late W. C. Whiteside, who was for a number of years a prominent farmer of that section. Besides her own family she is survived by her mother and by three brothers and three sisters, all of whom live in Lamar county except one of the sisters, who lives at Antlers, Ok. The funeral will be held this afternoon and will be conducted by Rev. J. W. Milligan.”
