THE PARIS NEWS, Sun., Sep. 18, 1994, p.6A. 'James Thomas Barnett, 77, of 445-42nd St. SW died Friday, Sep. 16, 1994, at his home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with the Rev. Randall Scott officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Honey Grove. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Mr. Barnett was born Aug. 17, 1917 in Honey Grove, a son of George Thomas and Cornelia Stewart Barnett. He married Mary Elizabeth Sale on July 7, 1939 in Palestine. He was retired from Layne Texas Company as a tool pusher for 28 years. He retired from Steven's Foods as a refrigeration technician after 15 years. He was a member of the Baptist Church and had been a member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club and had been a member of the Elks Lodge. He was also an active member of the Hopewell Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by his wife; three sons, Alfred Ray Barnett of Justin, Robert Glen Barnett of Paris and Johnny Wayne Barnett of McKinney; a half-sister, Mary Lou Manuel of Honey Grove; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, James Thomas Barnett Jr. on Aug. 20, 1994. The family requests memorials be made to the Ella McFadden Hospice Program at St. Joseph's Hospital & Health Center or the American Cancer Society.'
