THE LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, 25 Aug 1988. 'Velma L. Browning Bailey, 85, wife of Clay Bailey, 1774 Maple, died Tuesday, 16 Aug 1988 at 6:15 p.m. at McCuistion Medical Center. Services were held Friday, 19 Aug, at Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with the Dr. Raymond Armstrong officiating. Burial was in Mount Pleasant at the Masonic Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. Friday. Mrs. Bailey was born 31 Mar 1903, in Mount Pleasant, a daughter of James Riley Reidout and Fleeta Ottowa May Reidout. She attended Mount Pleasant schools and married Homer Malone in 1920. He died in 1922. She married Ulric Browning in 1927. He died in 1976. She married Mr. Bailey in September 1979. She was a member of a Lamar County home extension club. Surviving are her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Carl McWherter Jr., of Dallas; three grandchildren, Mrs. Don (Barbara) Wilson of Paris, John Harrison III of Dayton, Ohio, and David Harrison of Durham, N.C.; and seven great grandchildren.'
