Notes
From an unnamed newspaper obituary clipping from 'The Paris Scrapbook' donated by Skipper Steely; Tuesday, March 28, 1916. 'J. N. Bailey, auditor of the Paris and Great Northern Railroad, who had been in failing health for several months, died at 2 o'clock Sunday morning at a hospital in the city. He had been a resident here for the past fifteen years, or longer, during which time he was continuously employed as auditor. He was about fifty-two years old and leaves a wife and two daughters, Misses Hope and Margaret Bailey. He was a brother-in-law of W. P. Newton, chief auditor of the Frisco in the general offices in St. Louis, and Mrs. Newton with members of the family was with him when he died. The body left Sunday afternoon for St. Louis accompanied by the family. Mr. Summerskill, chief accountant in the Paris and Great Northern office, will temporarily fill the vacancy caused by Mr. Bailey's death.'
