Notes

THE PARIS NEWS, Wed., Aug. 12, 1998, p. 1A: (Pictures) WOMAN FOUND DEAD IN HOUSE - The body of Cynthia Bills, 30, was found late Tuesday inside a home in the 600 block of 3rd Street SW, an apparent victim of blunt force trauma and bullet wounds. Paris Police officers arrested Reynold Alan Smith, 20, shortly before midnight after an investigation into Ms. Bills death. He was arraigned on a charge of murder shortly before noon today. The investigation began at 12:39 p.m. Tuesday, when Ms. Bills mother, Mamie Giles, a resident of George Wright Homes, reported her missing daughter to police. Mrs. Giles said her daughter rarely was away from home and she became worried when she could not reach her by phone. A search of the neighborhood around George Wright Homes followed. During that search officers learned Ms. Bills had been seen at a home at 623 3rd Street SW. At the home, they questioned Smith, who gave officers permission to search the premises. Officers discovered Ms. Bills' body, wrapped in sheets in a closet of the home. Officers then obtained warrants to search the rest of the house and arrested Smith at 11:54 p.m. for investigation into the death. Ms. Bills body was taken to Collin County Medical Office for autopsy to determine the cause of death, but police said she appeared to have suffered blows to the head and gunshot wounds. The preliminary autopsy report was expected late today or early Thursday from the medical examiner.'
