THE LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, 13 Jul 1989: 'Mavis Bateman, 69, wife of H.O. Bateman of Gruever, Texas, died at Hugley Hospital in Fort Worth at 8:45 p.m. Saturday, 1 Jul 1989. Services were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, 5 Jul, at the First Baptist Church in Roxton with the Rev. Kenneth Coleman and the Rev. A.G. Purvis officiating. Burial was in Restland Cemetery at Roxton by Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home. Mrs. Bateman was born 15 Nov 1919, in High, a daughter of George Moore and Pearl Grace Keithley Moore. She attended Roxton schools and married Mr. Bateman on 18 Jan 1930. They lived in Roxton before moving to Stinnett. They have lived in Gruever for 30 years. She was a member of the Gruever Baptist Church and its ladies adult Sunday school class. She taught in the training union at the church for several years. Surviving are her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Harley Boyd of Mena, Ark.; one son, Kenneth Batemna of Godley; five gradchildren, Dewayne Boyd, Charles Boyd and Deanna Boyd, all of Mena, and Korey Bateman and Kimberly Bateman, both of Godley; and a sister, Ruth Kilpatrick of Trinidad.'
