THE PARIS NEWS, Sunday, Nov. 8, 1998, page 6A: 'Army retired E-7 W. D. Baker Jr., 70, of Paris, died Friday, Nov. 6, 1998, in Paris. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9, at Gene Roden's Chapel under the direction of Gene Roden's Sons Funeral Home. Interment will be with full military honors in Meadowbrook Gardens. Visitation will be from 5-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home chapel. Mr. Baker was born Aug. 12, 1928, in Stanton, a son of W.D. and Hattie Belle Adams Baker. He married Ruby Faye Powell Nov. 11, 1954. He was retired from the U.S. Army and a member of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Claudette Reed of Hilton Head, S.C., and Jimmie Gillespie of Longmont, Colo.; a brother, Ned Baker of Paris; a sister-in-law, Dorrell Anderson of Augusta, Ga.; two sisters, Helen Jones and Billie Jo Batch of Dallas; life-long friend, Millard Jones and special friend, retired Sgt. Major Cliftin Gragg. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Redus, Mickey Redus, Jim Parsons, Gregg Baker and James Feather.'
