THE PARIS NEWS, Tuesday, 13 Oct 1998, page 4B: 'CLARKSVILLE - Jack David 'J. D.' Barnett, 76, of Bogata died Saturday, Oct. 10,1998, at St. Joseph's Hospital and Health Center. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with the Rev. Ted Hicks and the Rev. Parks Robertson officiating. Burial will be in Cuthand Cemetery. Rosalie Masonic Lodge No. 527 will conduct graveside rites. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. He was born Oct. 16, 1921, in DeKalb to Bennie Lee and Laura Bell Cooper Barnett. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church and a life member of Local Union 669 and was a member of Rosalie Masonic Lodge. He married Helen Mae Moore Sept. 7, 1940, in Kaufman Co. Surviving are his wife of 58 years; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Trish Barnett of Spring; a daughter-in-law, Sarah Barnett; a sister, Iva Thomas of Bassett; grandsons, Jerry and Michael Barnett; granddaughters, Melissa Lillico and Jacqueline Barnett; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Barnett, Aug. 4, 1997. Pallbearers will be Larry, David, Perry, Rodney, Billy and Charles Obnosk. Honorary bearers will be Michael, Daniel, Danny, and Tommy Borders, and Richard and Tim Coffman.'
