Information from Mary Nell Bryan Foote, Hurst, TX, dfoote@flash.net, 01/12/2000: James Polk Bryan died on December 17, 1988. He was born August 31, 1923 in Fort Towson, Choctaw Co., Oklahoma, and was the son of Alfonso F. Bryan, (b. June 5, 1892, d. Jan. 28, 1985), and Roxie Ann Henry (Bryan), (b. July 5, 1895, d. July 9, 1975).
James was married in January, 1939 to Lola Bell Heavner in Chicota, Lamar Co., TX.
Children of James and Lola Bryan were:
1. Mary Nell Bryan, b. November 21, 1940
2. Carl David Bryan, b. September 6, 1942
James Polk Bryan was an exemplary individual, loved by many in Paris, Texas. He was a salesman in his younger years and a farmer before his retirement in 1978 in Lamar County. He had many friends and was a wonderful Christian person.
On the same stone with Lola B. Bryan. Nicknamed ‘Jim.’ Also has a military marker inscribed, "S1 US Navy - World War II."
