THE PARIS NEWS, Sunday, August 20, 1939, p. 3: “DOROTHY BOWERS OF HOPEWELL DIES. Miss Dorothy Bowers, 13 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford E. Bowers of Hopewell community, died at 7:20 o’clock Saturday evening at Lamar Hospital where she was a patient. The funeral service was set for 10 o’clock Sunday morning at Hopewell cemetery, where burial will be made, Brown-Roden Funeral Home having charge of arrangements. Survivors are her parents, two brothers and a sister, Marvin, Elbert and Margie Bowers of Hopewell and three grandparents, Mr and Mrs. J. Hugh Harris of Hopewell and R. A. Bowers of Sumner.”
