THE PARIS NEWS, Sun., Oct. 17, 1993, p. 12A: 'Leslie E. Turner, 90, of Powderly died Saturday, Oct. 16, in McCuistion Regional Medical Center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18 in the Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Whellus and the Rev. Jerry Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Red Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Turner was born April 18, 1903, in Powderly, a son of James C. and Nancy Smith Turner. He attended schools in the Pee Dee community. He married Mable Alberson in Powderly on July 19, 1924. She died April 15, 1976. He later married Juanita (Nita) Blaylock Daughtrey on May 24, 1982, in Powderly. Mr. Turner retired from Fina Oil Company in 1968 after 17 years. He was captain of the guards at the Mount Pleasant refinery. He was a member of the Bounds Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and a member of the Adult I Sunday school class. He was also a member of the Blossom Masonic Lodge #303 A.F.& A.M. They will conduct Masonic graveside services. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Cliff (Mary) Wharton of Lubbock; a step-son, Sonny Daughtrey of PAris; a step-daughter, Peggy Howard of Tyler; two sisters, Mrs. Clarmon (Sina) Ramsey of Powderly and Mrs. Stella Trafton of Paris; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. If desired, memorials may be made to the Bounds Baptist Church. Serving as pallbearers will be J.B. Foreman, Billy Foreman, Bobby Vaughn, Neal Conder, Bill Hodge, Joe Bailey Vaughn and R.G. Cobb.'
