| Notes Information submitted 7 Jul 1992, by Lenore Bland Brown, 2865 Hubbard St., Paris, TX., 75460; born in TN., and died [unknown date] in the Minter community of Lamar County. Married Mary Young about 1847. Their children were Francis (b.1850), John (b.1852), James (b.1853), Mariah Elizabeth (b.1854), who married Robert W. Brown, Matilda, J.B. 'Jeptha', who married Minnie [unknown surname], & William Buckhannan Tubb (b.1859), who married Fredonia Hefflefinger. William & Mary Young Tubb's family is one of the oldest of Lamar County as they settled here before 1848. He was a blacksmith by trade. From the records of Elizabeth Booth; the 1850 Lamar County Census shows birth in TN, while the 1860 Census shows birth in KY. She was also contacted by Cecil Tubbs of Arlington, TX who told her that William J. is buried in Minter Cemetery. He also gives a birth date on 1825 and marriage in 1847. No marker was found in Minter Cemetery by Elizabeth Booth and thoers who have enumerated the cemetery. Tubb's youngest child was Jeptha T. Tubb (not J. B.). He was born February 22, 1861 in Minter, Lamar County, Texas. In 1889 he married Minnie Cora Manning (b. March 8, 1866 in Missouri; d. March 22, 1959 in Gunter, Texas). Jeptha died April 20, 1948 in Abernathy, Texas. Jeptha and Minnie had five children: Essie Lee Tubb (my grandmother) b. June 17, 1890, d. February 14, 1977 -- married William Nelson Guthrie, December 22, 1907; Effie Lula Tubb b. September 6, 1891, d. September 1892; Lloyd Tubb b. about 1893 -- never married; and twins, Thomas Cortus Tubb b. June 3, 1896, d. February 13, 1984 -- wife's name Eva; Jefferson Curtis Tubb b. June 3, 1896, d. December 1978 -- married Frankie Northcutt. I have additional information on later generations which I will be happy to share. |
