THE LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, 21 Sep 1989. 'Hallie V. Welch Troutman of Dallas died at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the Baylor Hospital. Graveside services were at Meadowbrook Cemetery at 11 a.m. Tuesday with Rev. Rick Henslee officiating. Born in Emerson on 7 Sep 1907, she was the daughter of the late Wallace A. and Carrie Wilson Welch. She earned her Master's degree from Cornell University in New York and her bachelor's degree in education from East Texas State University in Commerce. She was also a graduate of Paris High School. She served in the Army in Washington, D.C. during World War II. She taught at Graham School, East Paris School and schools in New York and Long Beach, Calif., teaching for about 45 years. She is survived by two nieces, Carolyn Winfrey of Dallas and Judy Smith of Round Rock; one sister-in-law, Lucille Welch of Dallas; and five great nieces.'
