THE PARIS NEWS, Fri., May 2, 1997, p.8A: '(Picture) Wandella Towers, 82, of Paris died at 5:20 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 1997, at St. Joseph's Hospital and Health Center. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at Immanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Randall Scott and the Rev. Lorenzo Johns officiating. The body will lie at the church for one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Friday at Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home. Mrs. Towers was born Dec. 7, 1914, in Paris to Joe Ingle Sr. and Eva Gibson Ingle. She attended public schools in Paris was a graduate of Dallas schools. She was a homemaker, but later in life worked for Superior Switchboard for 12 years. She was a faithful and loved member of Immanuel Baptist Church where she had held many offices in its Woman's Missionary Union. At the age of 18 she was featured as a regular soloist during the noon hour on Radio Station KPLT. Her special theme songs were 'Deep Purple' and 'Mood Indigo.' She married Jesse Lee Towers Sr. in 1934. He died in 1989. Surviving are three sons, Jesse Lee Towers Jr. of Paris, William Edward Towers of Jacksonville Beach, FL, and Douglas Randall Towers of Cibolo; two daughters, Cynthia, Ann Chappell of White Oak and Rebecca Jeanette Eydani of Paris; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Joe Ingle of The Philippine Islands, Dan Ingle of Tyler and Jack Ingle of California; and three sisters, Betty Trotter of Amarillo, Judy Schultz of Sun City, FL, and Jere Cunningham of Sulphur Springs. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jeanie Allen. Pallbearers will be Luther Bridges, Steve Gray, Steve Layton, Wayne Tomblin, Jesse Bridges and Wendell Tallant. Honorary bearers will be Jack Barnett, Harry Miller, W.L. Lee and Joe Bailey Peek, Wesley Willingham and Elvis Cummings. The family requests memorials be made to the Building Fund of Immanuel Baptist Church.'
