THE LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, 15 Jun 1989. 'Jesse Lee Towers Sr., 340 16th SW, died at St. Joseph's Hospital at 6:20 a.m. Wednesday, 7 Jun 1989. Services were held at 4 p.m. Saturday, 10 Jun, at the Immanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Randall Scott and the Rev. H.G. Rhea officiating. Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home made burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Towers was born 14 Aug 1915, in Minter, a son of Johnny Towers and Betty Hargroves Towers. He attended schools in Biardstown and Paris. He married Wandella Ingle on 3 Aug 1934. He first worked for Ideal Baking Co. and worked for Texas Power and Light Co. for 35 years before retiring in 1977. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy in the Aleutian Islands. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and the Adult Men's VI Sunday School Class. Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Nasser (Jeanette) Eydani of Paris and Mrs. Willard (Cynthia) Chappell of White Oak; three sons, Jesse Lee Towers Jr. of Paris, the Rev. William Eddie Towers of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., and MSgt. Douglas R. Towers of Omaha, Neb; 11 grandchildren; and one great granddaughter.'
