LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, 6 Feb 1986. 'Gertrude Tidwell of Deport died Tuesday, 28 Jan 1986 at McCuistion Regional Medical Center. Services were held Thursday, 30 Jan., at the Grant Funeral Home Chapel with the Aden Petty officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery. Mrs. Tidwell was born 1 Sep 1896, in the Glory community, a daughter of W.S. and Josie Yancey Cheatham. She married George Johnson who died in 1925. She married J. [James] Ben Tidwell in 1928. He died in 1975. She was a Church of Christ member. Surviving are four sons, Loyd Tidwell of Villa Platte, La., Norman Tidwell of Euless, Earnest and Herman Johnson, both of Deport; one stepson, Hershel Tidwell of Summit, Miss.; three daughters, Mrs. Al (Mary) Parks of Deport, Cora Braly and Ruby Dean Wright, both of Euless; five stepdaughters, Margaret Martin of DeSoto, Helen Fleming of Burkburnett, Imogene Wilson of Paris, Lelia Westbrook and Estelle Cheshir, both of Deport; three brothers, Curtis and Russell Cheatham of Deport and Leonard Cheatham of California; 16 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; 19 step grandchildren; 41 step great grandchildren and one step great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, Virgil Tidwell.'
