Notes
THE PARIS MORNING NEWS, Friday, May 9, 1919: "Mrs. H. O. Brown, the widow of Capt. H. O. Brown, an old resident and Civil War veteran who was buried a week ago Wednesday, was found dead in the yard at her home on South 28th street yesterday afternoon from natural causes. She had partaken of a hearty dinner, and after finishing she had been sitting in a room talking to her son, Henry, who was reading a paper. She got up in a few minutes and stepped out in the yard to look after some chickens. A little later her son passed through her room thinking that she had returned from the yard and was lying down, but finding that she was not there went outdoors to look for her and found her lying dead on the ground between the house and the sidewalk. A physician was summoned and pronounced her death due to heart failure. She had been afflicted with heart trouble for some time, but had not been complaining. As was stated at the time of her husband's death, Mrs. Brown came to Paris from Montague county about thirty-five years ago, and had lived here ever since. She leaves two sons, H. O. Brown, Jr., and Ed Brown of Hope, Ark., and Mrs. James Hood of Paris. A message was sent to Ed Brown notifying him of her death and he arrived from Hope last night. The funeral service will be held at 5 o'clock this afternoon at the residence and will be conducted by Rev. B. E. Wallace. The burial will be at Evergreen cemetery by the side of her husband."
