THE PARIS NEWS, Tue., Apr. 4, 1995, p.10A. 'Geneva Bowen Burton, 81, 849-8th NE, died Saturday, April 1, 1995, at Heritage Nursing Home. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with the Rev. Samuel F. Evans officiating. Maxey Funeral Home will make burial in Restlawn Garden Cemetery. Mrs. Burton was born Feb. 24, 1914, in Paris, a daughter of O.B. and Jenny Bowen. Her husband, Thomas Burton Sr., preceded her in death. She was co-owner of Tudor Street Drug Store for 21 years. The business was rebuilt and changed to Burton's Barbecue and she was co-owner of that business for 20 years. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and a former member of Les Belles Parisienne Club. She was a member Eastern Star Viola Chapter No. 89. Surviving are two sons, Thomas Burton Jr., and Dwight Burton, both of Paris; one daughter, Margaret Celment [sic]; a stepdaughter, Elizabeth Waler of Paris; one brother, Anthony Bowen of Los Angeles; six sisters, Welika Jones of Portland, OR, Patricia Maton, Brenda Bell, Sandra Bowen, Pamela Ragsdale and Sheila Bowen, all of Seattle; four grandchildren, Sharon Clement Yates of Fort Worth, Thomas B. Burton III, Andra Burton and Tausha Burton Frazier, all of Paris; and one great-grandchild. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Booker, J.W. Browner, A.W. (Plug) Clem, Elbert Desmond, John Holt and Thurman Jones.'
