THE PARIS MORNING NEWS, Sunday, April 26, 1924: “Old Resident of Paris Passed Away After a Long and Devoted Christian Life-- Mrs. Fannie A, Burns, the eldest child of Mr. and Mr. Rufe Fulton, was born in Polk county Texas, July 21, 1863, and died at her residence 306 West Kaufman street, Saturday morning, April 26, 1924. During her childhood, she spent a few years in Arkansas, later removing to Weatherford, Texas at the age of sixteen years, she moved to Van Zandt county, and two years later was married to John M. Burns of that place. To this union were born nine children in the order named, R. O. (Orville) Burns of Sherman, TX, Bertha, Mrs. A. C. Higgs of Mangum, OK; Mrs. Myrtice E. Lincoln of Los Angeles, CA; Horace G. Burns, of Shreveport, LA; Rule D. Burns, who lives with her parents; J. A. (Adrian) Burns of Dallas, TX; J. R. (Raymond) Burns of Tucson, Ariz.; Mrs. Eunice Broyles and Byron E. Burns, both of whom reside with their parents. Mrs. Burns professed faith in Christ when she was in her nineteenth year and has lived a devoted, consistent Christian life ever since. She held membership in only three churches during her life, Mt. Pisgah church in Van Zandt county, Mt. Olive church, seven miles east of Paris, and the Immanuel Baptist Church of Paris. She as a member of Mt. Olive church for about 30 years, during which time she saw seven of her children come to Christ and join her church. In addition to the above, she is survived by her husband and a brother, Rev. J. Watt Fulton of Senath, Mo.”

Information from Roberta Burns Hofmann, Ewan72403@aol.com, 01/24/2014: Nancy Alice Fulton Burns was the daughter of Rufus Fulton and Ann Hannah Lucy Barnes, both of whom died near Weatherford. Rufus was the son of Samuel Fulton. Ann Hannah was the daughter of George Washington Barnes and Nancy Watson. Her brother was Jesse Watson Barnes, named after Nancy’s father.
