THE PARIS NEWS, Fri., Jan. 13, 1995, p.8A: "Mary Bell Burnette, 74, of Paris, loved and admired by many, died at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, 1995, at her home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, in Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ray Evers officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Burnette was born May 10, 1920, in Carter County, OK, a daughter of George Washington and Annie Foster Smith. She attended Zanis schools in OK and was a member of the Pathway Church of God. She married Mitchell James Whitted on Feb. 7, 1953, in Gainsville. He died March 19, 1992. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Michael James and Vickey Whitted of Paris; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon Sue and Greg Young of Blossom; a daughter, Shirley Ann Whitted of Reno; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Shorty Crowen and Clifford Smith."
