THE LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, 30 Apr 1981. ‘Mrs. J. M. (Mary Elizabeth) Browning, 88, of Deport died 22 Apr 1981 in a Paris hospital. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, 24 Apr in the chapel of Gene Roden’s Sons with Dr. V.O. Kyle and Dr. Raymond Armstrong officiating. Burial was in Meadowbrook Cemetery. Mrs. Browning was born in Hill County, Texas on 23 Apr 1892, daughter of R.L. Watson and Harriet Cox Watson. She married J.M. Browning in 1910; he preceded her in death in 1952. Surviving are two sons, Robert J. Browning of San Antonio and John S. Browning of Paris, two brother, T.F. Watson of Blum and R.L. Watson Jr. of Covington; three sisters, Mrs. Ester Burkleo of Euless, Mrs. Ida Smith of Cleburne and Mrs. Ruby Jensen of Cooper, six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren."
