Notes
THE PARIS NEWS, Thursday, May 1, 1919. "The funeral of Capt. H. O. Brown, which was held at his late residence on South 28th street at 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon, was conducted by Rev. B. E. Wallace, pastor of the First Presbyterian church. After the service at the house Albert Sidney Johnston camp Confederate Veterans took charge of the remains and the service at the grave was conducted by Lieut. Geo. P. Henley in the absence of Commander T. J. Vansant. Capt. Brown was born in Elizabethtown, Ky., and had been a resident of Paris since 1889. He first moved to Montague county from his native state after the civil War and came from there to Paris. He served throughout the war as a member of General John Morgan's soldiers. He was with him when he was killed on the raid into Ohio and was himself captured in that raid and was taken to Camp Chase. He escaped from prison and rejoined his command. He is survived by his wife, two sons, E. C. and H. O. Brown, Jr., who are in the cotton business at Hope, Ark., and a daughter, Mrs. James Hood of Paris. They were all with him when he died."
