LAMAR COUNTY ECHO Thur., Aug. 27, 1981: 'Services for Edward Joseph Brook, 3125 Clarksville, were conducted Thursday, Aug. 20 in the chapel of Gene Roden's Sons, Directors of Funerals. The Rev. Dick Atkinson and the Rev. Glynn Vickers officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Brook died Tuesday, Aug. 18 at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born May 6, 1901 in Aberdeen, S.D., a son of Charles E. and Almeda Virginia Brook. He was a graduate of the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado, in 1923 and did graduate work at the University of Southern California, the University of California, Los Angeles and Texas Christian University and Texas Tech. He was associated with Franco Wyoming Oil Co. from 1942 until 1964, serving as engineer and assistant to the president in the company's Fort Worth Office. From 1949 until 1961 he was president, director and general manager of McElroy Ranch Co., Fort Worth. In 1962, he became a partner in the Brook Stock Farm at Roxton. He was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, American Institute of Mining and Metallurgical Engineers and American Petroleum Institute. He was a director and member of the Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association and Texas Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association. He held membership in the Independent Petroleum Association of America and Fort Worth Petroleum Club. Mr. Brook was a member of the Golden City Lodge No. 1 AF and AM, Texas Chapter No. 362 R.A.M., Texas Council No. 321 R&SM and Fort Worth Commandery No. 19, Knights Templar. He served as a lieutenant in the Navy during WW II. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Paris. He is survived by his wife, the former Eva Jane Anderson; one daughter, Mrs. Charlene Jane Wagner of Houston; one son, Edward William Brook of Paris; one sister, Mrs. Ethel Day of Los Angeles, TX and five grandchildren. Bearers were Arthur Fuqua, Drew Swearingen, Dr. Don Smith, Gordon Boswell III, Carl Whitten and Dr. J.W. McCoy.'
