Notes

THE PARIS NEWS, Tuesday, April 6, 1920, p. 1: “Mrs. M. A. Brian, an old resident of Lamar county, died at the Sanitarium as the result of falling and breaking her hip on the 14th of February. She had been been visiting the family of T. M. Cox on South 23rd street and had just started home. Coming to a wet place in the sidewalk she went to walk around it and slipped. She was eighty-four years old and was remarkably active for her age. She was very fond of visiting neighbors and taking long walks. She was nearly a mile from home when she net with the accident. She was born in North Carolina and had been a resident of Lamar county since 1872. Her home since coming to Lamar county had for many years been in the Biardstown community in which her brother, the late Capt. A. A. McKinney, one of the most prominent men in that section, resided. She is survived by a son, W. L. Brian of Paris, with whom she was making her home on North Main street, and a daughter, Mrs. T. D. Dunn, of Talpa [Coleman County, Texas]. The funeral service will be held at the Rodgers-Wade chapel at 10 o’clock this morning, conducted by Revs. R. P. Shuler and Wallace, after which the body will be taken to the country for burial at Friendship church, below Biardstown.”
