THE LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, 5 Jan 1989: "Lucy Pearl Barnard, 78, of Deport died Saturday, Dec. 31, at Doctor’s Nursing Center in Dallas. Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, in the Deport United Methodist Church with the Rev. Chief Warden officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery by Grant Funeral Home. Mrs. Barnard was born July 5, 1910, in Ruby, a daughter of Samuel Howard and Myrtle Griffin Moore. She married William Harold (Joe) Barnard on Sept. 20, 1927, in Paris. He died April 13, 1981. She was a member of the Deport United Methodist Church and a charter member of its Women’s Missionary Society. Surviving are a son, Dr. William Kenneth Barnard of Dallas; one daughter, Mrs. John (Patricia Jo) Farmer of Dallas; one brother, retired Rear Adm. Sam H. Moore of Marshall; two sisters, Mrs. L. C. (Hazel) Johnson of Paris and Mrs. Frank (Lois) Leslie of Panama City, Fla.; four grandsons; one granddaughter; and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Col. Frank E. (Keb) Moore of Maryland, on Dec. 11, 1988."
