THE PARIS NEWS, 4 Feb 1951: “Mrs. W. L. Bowman, 82, of 627-3rd SE, died at home, Saturday afternoon at 4 o’clock after an illness. Funeral Services Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock will be conducted at Brown-Roden Funeral Home by the Rev. Eugene Brand of Lamesa, assisted by the Rev. H. Glenn Smith of Immanuel Baptist Church. Interment will be made in Evergreen Cemetery, pallbearers will be Jess Gossett, Ernest Bowman, Lynn Adams, Everett Bowman, Clarence Rodgers, Jr. and Albert Jones. Mrs. Bowman, the former Miss Sarah O. Hughes, daughter of the late Henry and Mary Lambert Hughes, was born at Camden, Ark., 5 Oct 1868. She had lived in Lamar County 54 years, and had been a member of the Baptist Church since girlhood. Surviving are these children: Mrs. John D. Williams, Mrs. Forrest Miller, Mrs. Clarence Rodgers and M. C. Bowman, Paris; Mrs. J. W. Holland, Erick, Okla. and W. H. Bowman, Lamesa; 17 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.”

THE PARIS NEWS, Thu, Feb 15, 1951, p. 14: “To the many friends who assisted the family during the recent 111ness and death of Mrs. W. L. Bowman, we wish to express our thanks. Your service, and offerings of flowers strengthen us in this hour. We wish to thank Dr. John Arch Stephens for his untiring efforts, also Dr. Glenn Smith and Rev. Brand for their words of comfort. The family of Mrs. W. L. Bowman.”
