Notes
THE PARIS NEWS, Fri., Nov. 15, 1996, p. 6A: "(Picture) Fawn Ramsey Brasier, 43, of Mesquite died Thursday, Nov. 14, 1996, at her residence. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at Lake Pointe Baptist Church, 701 E. 1-30, Rockwall with Hospice Chaplain David Smith officiating. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, in the chapel of Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home, Paris, with the Rev. Jerry Moore officiating. Burial will be in Red Hill Cemetery in Lamar County. Pallbearers will be her nephews, Craig Reed, Jeff Reed, Butch Jones, Cody Jones, Ben Ramsey, Kurt Ramsey, Michael Pickering and Dan Ramsey. She was born Sep. 28, 1953, in Paris, a daughter of Wylie and Opal Alvord Ramsey. She was a graduate of North Lamar High School and a member of Eastside Baptist Church of Garland. Until the time of her illness she worked as an executive assistant in the Dallas office of United Parcel Service. Fawn’s courage was an inspiration to everyone who knew her through this battle. Courage is a feeling deep within the heart that controls our behavior. Fawn’s philosophy was that she could be either happy or sad - she had cancer, but chose to be happy. Our hearts are heavy. Fawn captured our hearts on the day she was born because of her smile, kindness and loving ways. She left footprints on our hearts, and we will never be the same. Fawn will be greatly missed but lovingly remembered by two sons, Keith and Weston Brasier of Garland; a daughter, Ann Brasier of Arthur City; her mother, Opal Ramsey of Powderly; two brothers and sister-in-law, Zoel and Mary Ramsey of Powderly and Lucky Ramsey of Rowland; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Myrna Pendleton of Powderly and Iris and L.J. Coney of Powderly; several nieces and nephews, including Gwen and Howard Hale of Arthur City, who will be raising Fawn’s daughter, Anna; and by many close friends, including Betty Lou Furlong, Donna Cherry, Trudy Hamilton, Shauna Rashidzadeh, Laura Schanbacher, Debbie Selby, Melinda Cummings and Jean Vincent. She was preceded in death by her father, Wylie Ramsey, and a brother, Ercil Glendon Ramsey. Fawn’s family would like to express their appreciation for your prayers and kind deeds through this four-year ordeal. Families are affected by the tragedies of cancer as well as the victim. Please accept our heartfelt thanks."
