From materials and a picture donated to the genealogical library in 1995 by Thelma Jean Day: “Mr. Raymond Boone of Paris died April 29, 1987 (stone states 4 April 1989). Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 1987, at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with the Rev. S.F. Evans officiating. Maxey Funeral Home will make burial in Fairland Cemetery. Mr. Boone was born in Lamar County, a son of the late John Rufus Boone and Hanna (Clark) Boone. He attended Gibbons High School and was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church where he served as an usher and in the Male Chorus. He had been employed by the Paris Independent School District and by Maxey Funeral Home. Surviving are two brothers, Robert and Leonard Boone, both of Paris; two sisters, Louise Biglow, Omaka, NE and Kathryn Simmons, Paris; and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives. Pallbearers will be A.P. Houston, Tom Smith, Ward Jones, Dillie Morris, Robert Smith and Robert Joe Mickens.”
THE LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, 7 May 1987: “Raymond Boone, 449 11th NE, died Wednesday, 29 Apr 1987, at McCuistion Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were Saturday, 2 May, in Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. Rev. S.F. Evans officiated. Burial was in Fairland Cemetery under the direction of Maxey Funeral Home. Mr. Boone was born 7 Aug 1907, in Lamar County, the son of John Rufus Boone and Hannah Clark Boone. He attended Paris schools and he was a retired employee, a custodian, of the Paris Independent School District. He also was retired as an employee of the Maxey Funeral Home. Survivors include two brothers, Robert Boone and Leonard Boone, both of Paris, two sisters, Louise Biglow of Omaha, Neb., and Kathryn Simmons of Paris; and several nieces and nephews.”
