Notes
THE PARIS NEWS, 12 Aug 1932: 'Funeral services for James H. Bentley, 40, who died Friday morning from throat wounds inflicted by razor, will be held Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the First Presbyterian church conducted by the Rev. F.L. Wear, pastor of the Central Presbyterian church. Burial is to be at Mt. Tabor cemetery near Caviness. According to eyewitnesses, Bentley entered a barber shop at 82 1/2 Bonham street Friday morning at about 10 o'clock and asked to purchase a second hand razor. He was given a razor to examine and in a moment his juglar vein was slashed. An Emberson-Brown-Roden ambulance was called and he was taken to St. Joseph's Infirmary where he died before medical attention could be given him. Mr. Benley had been in ill health for some time. He was formerly county treasurer and a teller in a local bank. Mr. Bentley was born and reared at Emberson, son of the late T. B. Bentley and Mrs. Bentley. He served two years overseas during the world war with the AEF and on his return here was employed for a number of years as teller at First National Bank, serving as county treasurer one term. He and his wife, formerly Miss Henrietta Warren, moved several years ago to Shamrock, and later lived in Oklahoma and at DeKalb before returning here. He had been in ill health several months and not actively engaged in any business. He was a member of the Masonic order here, and had belonged to the Young Men's Luncheon Club. Surviving him are his widow, his mother, one brother Tom Bentley, and eight sisters, Mrs. Harry Burden and Mrs. Ethel McEwen of Headley; Mrs. Ada Hancock and Mrs. Pleas Ritchie of Paris; Mrs. L. A. Snowden of Caviness, Mrs. Isom Johnson of DeKalb, Mrs. Jim Bryant of Boswell, Okla. and Mrs. Annie Dodson of Sumner.' Buried next to Henrietta R. Bentley.
