THE PARIS NEWS, Monday, June 8, 1942: “Sudden death of Mrs. James H. Bentley, due to a heart attack, occurred about 10:30 a.m. Monday at her home, 97 S. 17th St., while she was making a telephone call. Her mother, Mrs. J. E. Warren, with whom she made her home, and an uncle William Norman, visiting here from Wynnewood, Okla., were in the house at the time. She was formerly Miss Henrietta Warren, and had taught expression here several years. Funeral service will be held probably Tuesday at Manton-Fry Funeral Home by the Rev. Lawrence Malloy of First Presbyterian Church, and interment will be made in Mt. Tabor Cemetery near Emberson by the side of her husband, a former county Treasurer of Lamar County. The time had not been definitely set, awaiting word from her only sister, Mrs. Evelyn W. Williams, who, with her daughter, Dorothy, is now employed in Washington, D. C. a graduate of Paris High School, Mrs. Bentley for a time taught at J. G. Wooten School here and later became an expression teacher. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, and of the American Legion Auxiliary, besides being active in other social organizations and groups.”
