| Notes THE PARIS NEWS, 6 Aug 1957: “R. H. (Dixie) Baughn, 726 W. Sherman St., veteran peace officer and penal official, died Friday about 9 p.m. in a Paris hospital, after being ill some time. On the Paris City Police force from 1919 to 1929, he served as assistant warden of the Texas State penitentiary the next six years, and as manager of the Wynn prison farm at Huntsville until 1946. He was then employed two years at the Sheffield Steel Corporation plant in Houston, and upon his retirement, returned to Paris to live. He was a member of First Baptist Church here. The funeral, Monday at 3 p.m. will be held at Fry and Gibbs chapel by the Rev. W. M. Fry and the Rev. T. Frank George, burial to be made in Evergreen Cemetery. Born in Madisonville, N.C., 26 Dec 1873, Richard Henry Baughn was a son of the late Richard W. and Jennie (Walker) Baughn. He married Miss Alice Hamm at Whiterock Church, south of Petty, 12 Dec 1896. His wife survives, besides Hal R. Raughn and Mrs. Doris Bodenheimer, both of Houston, children of their son, the late Hal Baughn, whom they reared; five great grandchildren, and two sisters; Mrs. E. C. McCullough of Paris, Mr. Baughan’s twin, and Mrs. L.H. Mullens, Clarendon.” Information from Texas Death Certificate: Buried next to Alice E. Baughn. Tombstone is inscribed, ’R.
